36 Days of Type
36 Days of Type invites designers, illustrators, and graphic artists to express their interpretation of the letters and numbers of the Latin alphabet.
This project is a yearly open call, exploring the creative boundaries of letterforms, in which participants are challenged to design a letter or number each day for 36 consecutive days. It is a global and simultaneous act showing the outcome of the ability to represent the same symbols from thousands of different perspectives.
“A project that aims to be a space for creation around typography and its endless graphic possibilities.”

Creating the Typeface System
The project idea is to create letterforms from scratch through one’s perspective; however, I was interested in taking a different approach. My interest was to create a new direction of letterforms and numbers from a font that already exists.
When coming across the alphabet system of Rendi Wendy, I imagined bubbly and 3-Dimensional letters, so I designed the letters and numbers that portrayed my imagination. I added shadows, strokes, and highlights to these bubbly figures to make the forms come to life. My goal was to transfer my imaginations into reality through this typeface, in which showcases that even existing figures can turn into different forms with a difference in perspectives.
Layout Design
My imagination consists of three elements - popping colors, bubbly, and 3-Dimensional. These elements are shown within my layouts, making every letter and number as unique as possible. I did not want to have clashing colors next to one another, so every section has its own background and mixture of gradient colors, portraying a playful and popping image.
